My name is Aaron Cain; I am 29 years old and I have been racing at Slinger Super Speedway for the past 7 years in a the very competitive Thunderstock division. My day job consists of being a High School Science teacher in Lomira, a small town north of Slinger, WI.
In 2001, I began my racing career with my dad in a new division called “Team Cruisers.” This division was like no other because the car required two drivers. The driver (my dad) had full use of the steering wheel and break pedal, while the passenger (me) had control of the gas pedal. My dad and I were very successful over the three years we were in the division. In the 2003 season, I started racing in the Slinger Bee Division. I scored five wins, countless top 5’s, and ultimately was named the 4 Cylinder Track Champion. In the 2004 season, my dad and I split time behind the wheel, switching off every other week in a new division called the “Thunderstock” class. The two of us did very well taking home two feature wins a-piece. In 2005, I took over the driving responsibilities and was crowned the 2005 track champion. 2006 was a very similar year as I scored numerous victories and repeated as the track champion. In 2007, the Thunderstock division underwent a renovation allowing the cars to become lighter and faster. We struggled early on with some of the new rules and faster cars. However the second half of the season we dominated many races bringing home three total wins. I ended up finishing 2nd in the standings falling 30 points short of a third consecutive track championship.
In the end, family is the most important thing to me. My wife is my biggest fan as she supports this tedious, addictive, and time-consuming hobby. Some day, I would love to be driving a late model or even moving on to Nascar circuits, but right now I am just enjoying every minute on the track. If you make it in to the pit area, make sure to stop by and say hello.
